The US Code: Title 28; Judiciary and Judicial Procedure; Part 1; Organization of the Courts; Chapter 1 – Supreme Court; Section 1; Number of Justices

The Supreme Court of the United States shall consist of a Chief Justice and eight associate Justices, any six of whom shall constitute a quorum. (June 25, 1948, ch. 646 62 stat. 869)

I suddenly had the thought that the true relationship of the Chief Justice to the associate justices is that it is just one Marshal and eight Deputy Marshals but as they are all life tenure I want to say that they all must be Marshals but I wonder?
